SPOKANE -- Authorities are looking for a man they say beat a cab driver in East Spokane.

It happened near Havana and Upriver Drive.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office tells us the customer got a ride, refused to pay then beat the driver, who we're told was taken to the hospital with a broken nose and missing teeth.

Authorities say they might have a phone number and address for the suspect, but that he has fled from that location.

When are they going to put safety cages in cabs (like in cop cars)? That, and a pay slot...also, if you don't pay, you cannot exit the vehicle until police arrive. You would NEVER have these problems. I wouldn't even consider being a cab driver without these basi safety measures. Not in this day and age!
