Spokane – Workers at businesses near Francis and Florida are counting down the days until road construction on Francis is complete.

Workers at Whitey’s Wrecking Company said their walk-in business was cut by a third since work began in April. They said the construction blocked both of their entrances, and are anxious to get them back. Workers said they are optimistic business will bounce right back when the work is done.

The City of Spokane expects the project to widen Francis to five lanes should wrap up later this week.

Paving was finished over the weekend, and now all that is left are a few minor details.

Sidewalks and bike lanes were also added. The road project cost $1.3 million.
