SPOKANE -- The manager of a car wash in North Spokane County says burglars broke in, took a safe, and tried to steal a second sometime between 8 p.m. Sunday night and 6 a.m. Monday morning. It happened at the Mr. Carwash on N. Newport Hwy. near Nevada.
The manager says the front door was bashed in, with a safe containing 300 dollars missing, as well as a computer monitor. The manager says the burglar or burglars also tried unsuccessfully to break into a second safe. The other safe was found, empty at Riverside State Park.
The manager says the business is equipped with an alarm system, but says it didn't work. Deputies will be looking at surveillence video Monday afternoon.
