SPOKANE, Wash. -- Owners of a local bar said they could not believe their mascot was stolen right off the wall during business hours.
The owners of the Blind Buck on N. Division in Downtown Spokane said they are now desperately searching for a buck head with giant antlers it had hanging on the wall.
“It’s mind-boggling but he was there, then he was gone,” said Vicky Mongeon.
Vicky and her twin sister Rikki Mongeon said they got some strange looks when they first reported to police that the buck had been stolen.
“We were like, ‘no it's a true story, and we really miss him and it's kind of sad for all of us,” said Rikki.
Since the bar opened nine months ago, the buck has kept a watchful eye but on Wednesday night, no one was watching him. The bar tender didn't notice he disappeared, and neither did the DJ who was just feet away. It was Rikki's husband who finally noticed the buck was gone the next morning.
“I was sweeping and he was like ‘what the bleep, the buck!’” said Rikki.
Rikki and Vicki say without Mr. Buck around, there's a real blind spot in their bar. The place just doesn't feel the same and patrons desperately miss their old drinking buddy.
“Things get stolen from bars. People get drunk and they get brave, but like nothing like this close to home for us so we wanted people to know this a serious thing,” said Rikki.
It’s serious enough to the Mongeons that they said they would not press charges if the person who stole Mr. Buck brings him back.
