20 acre brush fire near Eloika Lake destroys RV and other structures

SPOKANE COUNTY,  Wash.— A brush fire destroyed a car, an RV and several outbuildings near Eloika Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities originally reported that the fire destroyed a mobile home, but later determined that structure was an RV trailer.

Dispatchers confirmed that firefighters from the Department of Natural Resources and Fire District Four responded to scene near Bridges Road and Division. Flames were also threatening other buildings according to dispatch operators.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, the fire burned at least 20 acres.

Fire crews used planes to drop water on the flames and were able get a handle on the flames. The fire was 50-percent contained as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.
