MEDICAL LAKE, Wash.-- Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies responded early Tuesday to recover a body in Medical Lake.
On Thursday, authorities released the identity of the victim. They report the deceased woman pulled from the lake was Jazmin Torres, 36.
Authorities said it all started around 9 a.m. Tuesday after a Medical Lake employee spotted the body in the water near Waterfront Park. Investigators said someone attempted to perform life saving procedures but the woman was soon declared dead.
They said the Torres was not wearing a swimsuit and appeared to have been in the water for a substantial amount of time.
The Spokane County Sheriff's Office spent over three hours on the scene investigating.
The sheriff's office did recover the woman's car. They looked through it for additional evidence and towed away her car.
After the scene was processed, the female was released to the Medical Examiner's Office who performed an autopsy. The Medical Examiner's Office concluded that the cause of death was drowning. However, the manner of the death was pending, according to experts.
