Father’s body found in Grant Co. canal, vanished in deadly crash

COULEE CITY, Wash. – The body of a man who vanished when his vehicle went into a Grant County irrigation canal has been found. One of Scott Kolves’ sons also died when the vehicle went into the water in late March.

On Monday, an irrigation district employee found Kolves’ body.  It was found near Summer Falls Dam. Officials said the site is not far from where the crash happened.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office said Kolves was teaching his 10-year-old son to drive when they were on a fishing trip. The man grabbed the wheel when the boy had trouble but could not prevent the truck from leaving the canal road.

Nearby fishermen saved the 10-year-old and his 12-year-old brother. Korey Kolves, 8,  was found downstream and could not be revived.
