SPOKANE -- Spokane police are piecing together the case of a suspicious death in West Spokane. A man's body was found below the Sunset Bridge around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say the death is suspicious because there is not enough information to label it as anything else. There are still many unknowns that include the identity of the man and how he died. Police are trying to figure out if he fell off the bridge or was pushed.
The pedestrian walkway was closed down for hours as police tried to figure out what happened.
So far, investigators know that a white man's body was found 100 feet down near a pillar. Someone walking on a path under the bridge called 911 when they found the body. Police closed off a section of the pathway as they investigated the scene. Other detectives patrolled the area for evidence. The medical examiner's office removed the body later Wednesday afternoon. Police say it could be a while before more information is released.
The pathway and the pedestrian walkway was back open by mid-afternoon.
