SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office released the identity of a man found dead Saturday in the Spokane River.

Authorities identified him as Kyle Burk Jones, 22.  The medical examiner said there was no evidence of injury, but the manner of death was pending.

Spokane Police said his body was found near the Sandifur Bridge on the 2400 block of Riverside. Rescue crews said he was tangled up in a tree in the river.

Officials said that the body had been in the water for possibly more than a month.

Authorities were called around 11 a.m. Saturday and pulled the Jones out of the water around noon.

Hikers in the area were shocked at the discovery.

"It's kind of creepy, their finding bodies out there," said Scott McDaniel, a hiker.

"I don't know if I want to come down here again. I don't know if I bring my kids out here," said Kristina Brown, another hiker. "It's creepy. It's just an uncomfortable feeling."

The investigation is ongoing.
