SPOKANE -- A blizzard warning throughout much of the Inland Northwest is having a huge impact on roads.

The snow is very powdery but the big issue is a layer of compact snow and ice on the road that is making for slick conditions.

Washington State Patrol has been very busy tonight responding to several slide offs and a few crashes along Interstate 90 all the way to the Idaho border.

Washington State Patrol has shutdown a stretch of State Route 28.  It is closed from milepost 93 to milepost 116 from Harrington to Odessa.

Blowing and drifting snow is accumulating on Grant County roads, making road travel difficult and causing several crashes.  Deputies report non of the crashes are serious.  They urge drivers to limit any road travel due to the hazardous driving conditions.

In Idaho, the Idaho State Patrol is warning everyone to avoid Highway 95 in Latah County.  Troopers are dealing with several slide offs between Genessee and Moscow.  Authorities say ice covers that stretch of road.
