SPOKANE, Wash. -- Avista customers will see a hike in their bill starting next year.
State regulators approved the rate increase Wednesday, which will remain in effect for the next two years.
Residents will see, on average, a 2 percent increase in their electricity bill. Natural gas customers should see a 3.7 percent growth.
New rates start on Jan. 1, 2013. Further rate hikes will go into affect again in 2014.
Avista requested the increase in April. A statewide commission found Avista’s power supply costs were high enough to allow for the hike.
