SPOKANE, Wash. -- Authorities found a Spokane County Sheriff's vehicle that was stolen Thursday evening.
Officials said Taylor Davis, 26, is in custody. Authorities said he has a long criminal history.
Deputies said they were investigating a carjacking that occurred near the Albertson at 57th and Regal when the car was stolen.
Gary Pellham said he was at MacKenzie Pizza on the South Hill when he saw Davis breaking into his car.
“It was one of those crazy things we came out of the restaurant, walked around my vehicle and I came around the corner and a guy was trying to break in,” said Pellham.
Pellham said he confronted Davis while he was trying to take his car. He said Davis then sprayed him in the face with mace but he continued to fight him.
Davis then took off on foot going westbound. Sheriff’s deputies caught up with Davis at 63rd and Stone. Authorities said during the foot chase the suspect circled back, jumped into the deputy’s patrol car, and took off westbound on 57th Avenue.
The patrol car was recovered near Oz Fitness at E. 55th Avenue.
Davis was arrested at 44th and Julia shortly after the car was recovered. He is facing multiple charges.
The Sheriff confirmed that the shotgun and rifle that were in the vehicle were both recovered.
