SPOKANE, Wash. -- A fire early Sunday in South Spokane destroyed at least two Honey Bucket portable bathrooms.
There was little of the two stalls remaining where they had been placed, in Thornton Murphy Park near 27th and Fiske.
“My first reaction is I've never seen a melted porta-potty before,” said John Goldsworthy, who said he was baffled by the wreckage when he pulled into the park Sunday morning.
“I actually had to take a picture of it.”
The Honey Buckets were rented by the Southside Christian Church for their vacation bible school which was scheduled for Monday. Church members told KREM 2 they had already called to get replacements.
The Spokane Fire Department is investigating the fire. Authorities called it suspicious and an arson investigator was called in.
“We're doing church in the park with Lincoln Heights Community Church,” said Goldsworthy. “We're going to try to do this more often, so you always want it to be a safe area and family friendly. You hope this kind of stuff doesn't happen too much.”
Police want anyone with information on the fire to call crime check.
