KELLOGG, Idaho -- Authorities in the Kellogg area tell us all phone service is down to the Silver Valley, including 911.

The outage affects all landlines in Wallace, Osburn, Kellogg and Smelterville.

Authorities are investigating what caused the outage with Frontier Communications. The occurred around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

People with emergencies are asked to go to their local fire station. Emergency personnel have radios that work.

Cell phone to cell phone service still works, but cell phone to land line numbers do not  work.

Anyone with an emegency can call the following number via cell phone: (208) -682-5330.

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office said landline service would likely be restored by midning at the earliest. It could be as long as 6:00 a.m. Thursday before service is restored.
