OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — As the clock runs out on the Legislature's 60-day session, lawmakers will adjourn, but they may not be going far.
A special session to solve the state's $2.8 billion budget deficit is expected to be announced before midnight Thursday, when the Legislature's regular session expires.
House and Senate Democrats don't yet have an agreement on how to balance the $2.8 billion deficit in this year's budget, and Gov. Chris Gregoire has been meeting with legislative leaders throughout the day. But she hasn't yet issued a proclamation calling for a special session.
Meanwhile, the House and Senate continued to vote out bills Thursday as the adjournment deadline approached.
