SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner released the name of the man hit and killed by a vehicle near 57th and Regal. Officials said Gerald Forsberg, 83, died of injuries to his head, neck, and chest on Wednesday night.
Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies said Forsberg was killed as he attempted to cross the street.
The collision happened just after 5:00 p.m. Investigators said a Chevy truck was traveling eastbound on 57th when the truck hit Forsberg. There were no early signs that the truck driver was at fault, deputies said. According to witnesses, Forsberg was on the north side of 57th and ran south across the road. He was wearing dark clothing and ran across the middle of the road, rather than using the crosswalk at 57th and Regal, authorities added.
Forsberg died at the scene. Investigators said the driver was cooperating with authorities.
