Spokane man pleads guilty to killing ex, impersonating her on MySpace

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A Spokane man who killed his estranged wife, then impersonated her on MySpace to dupe family members, faces about 18 years in prison when he's sentenced next month. Uriah Brosnan has pleaded guilty to the Jan. 28 beating death of Becky Brosnan and the plea deal calls for him to serve 220 months.

Becky's stepmother is grateful the Brosnans' children, ages 6 and 11, won't have to experience a trial. Court documents say the Brosnans were married about 10 years before a contentious divorce sparked a child custody dispute that led to Becky Brosnan's killing.

For nearly two weeks after she disappeared, Uriah Brosman sent text messages from Becky's phone and updated her Myspace page to make it appear that she was alive but wanted to be left alone. Her stepmother grew suspicious and called the police.

Brosnan is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 14 in Spokane County Superior Court.

Why the heck does it cost so much to execute someone. I got a cheaper idea, a single .40 caliber bullet, I'll even provide it. But, it's Washington State, you can murder cops, pregnant women, etc and not get the death penalty. You should get one review appeal, and if it holds, execution to follow within 120 days. This 15-20 years plus after getting the death penalty and not being dead yet is a joke. To bad we can't split from Western Washington, which is to liberal for it's own good.

You are right about that. Everyone has such strong opinions, BUT do you really know who your buying your gas from or who's checking you out at the grocery store??? There are SO many people who aren't in prison and they have murdered and raped children etc... Haven't you noticed that most 'criminals" dont get that long of a sentence for such crimes...what do you think happens to them after they're 7 year sentence??? They might be your new neighbor. We have these scum of the earth as you say all around us.......

Killing someone is never right...whether it's one citizen to another, or the government killing someone. The death penalty would not bring her back.

Remember how people went apesh*t when the patient left the fairgrounds last summer. He had been locked up for 22 years (so far) for something he did while ill. This guy gets 18 years for this? Maybe the press overreacted in Sept, huh? There are killers among us all over the place, and most of them are just walking around.

No such thing as a quick death penalty in this country and for good reason. There's no way you know for sure he killed his ex. He would appeal and appeal and appeal and cost cost cost tax payers more money. Look it up, it costs more to kill people then to let them rot in prison.

It cost $36,000 to $43,000 per year per inmate. The only way the death penalty cost more is because they sit on death row forever. If we did it quick for obvious offenders like this jerk, then it cheaper. Wont cost half a mill to room and board him.

FYI the death penalty costs more for taxpayers than life in prison.... Helps if you think before you post.
