GRANT COUNTY, Wash. -- An 8-year-old boy is dead and 3 adults were injured during a crash on Highway 17 Saturday evening.

Authorities say a woman over corrected her vehicle around 6:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 17 about 8 miles north of Moses Lake and struck another vehicle in the opposite lane.

Washington State Patrol says the driver of a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, Teresa Vazquezlopez, 50, first went off  the right side of the roadway before striking a 2013 Toyota Highlander in the southbound lane.

The driver of the Highlander, Danny O'Neal, 57, and the passenger Tamra O'Neal, 57, were both injured and taken to Samaritan Hospital.

Vazquezlopez was airlifted to Central Washington hospital. The passenger in her car, Daniel Vazquezlopez, 8, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say he was not wearing a safety device.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
