SPOKANE, Wash. -- The little girl who was attacked by a pit bull in North Spokane earlier this month is recovering from her bites.
The dog knocked down and bit 8-year-old Diamond White repeatedly April 3, according to authorities. Officers said two neighbors, who were attempting to help the girl, were also attacked. The dog and another dog owned by the same woman, Kathy Southern, were then placed in the custody of SCRAPS.

White said being attacked by the dog was the scariest moment of her life, and that she is thankful for the neighbors who stepped in to save her.
“Thank you for everyone who saved me, I really appreciate it,” the girl said.
Diamond's mother has filed a civil suit alleging negligence on the part of the pit bulls’ owner.
“Yes, I think she was very irresponsible about it,” said the girl’s mother, Nakia Roberts. “I don't think she should have had a dog like that in the neighborhood. There's too many kids around here for a dog like that to be around.”
Diamond was scheduled to get her stitches out Thursday.
