TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A man accused of driving Maurice Clemmons away from the coffee shop where he massacred four suburban police officers has made his first court appearance.
Darcus Allen, a convicted murderer who did time with Clemmons in an Arkansas prison, was charged with rendering criminal assistance Wednesday. Allen pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail.
Two women alleged to have given Clemmons first aid and rides after the shooting at a Parkland coffee shop early Sunday also appeared in Pierce County Superior Court. Each was ordered held for 72 hours on $500,000 bail.
In all, six people have now made court appearances after being arrested for investigation of helping Clemmons avoid police during a frantic two-day manhunt that began when he walked into the Forza coffee house Sunday morning and shot four Lakewood police officers to death.
Clemmons was shot to death by a lone patrol officer in Seattle on Tuesday.
