SPOKANE--Three-year-old abuse victim Kyra Wine is still in the hospital almost two months after her horrible wounds were first reported, according to a family member.
That family member told KREM 2 NEWS Monday that Kyra has had several surgeries, primarily on her feet, to allow her to be able to walk again. The family member says Kyra is at the "tail end" of those surgeries, but doesn't know how much longer she'll have to stay at Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Kyra will have to go to a rehabilitation center after she's released from Sacred Heart.
Kyra's father, Tom Wine, is still working a full-time job in the St. Maries, ID area and travels to Spokane on the weekends to see Kyra.
Tom is getting his house ready to accomodate Kyra's medical equipment when she finally returns home.
Kyra was initially listed in critical condition after deputies found dead flesh on her arms and legs when they were asked by a citizen to a do welfare check on her at her home in St. Maries back in mid-June.
Kyra's mom, Christina Haynes, and Haynes' live-in boyfriend, Charles Smith, are charged with felony injury to a child. Kyra lived with Haynes and Smith apart from her father.
