SPOKANE-- Traditionally gas prices go up for the summer driving season but this year, prices are dropping fast.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular right now in Spokane is $3.69 and $3.56 in Coeur d’Alene.

We talked to several people at a rest stop off I-90.  One couple that's been traveling for several weeks say prices in Washington are the highest they've seen.

42 million Americans will journey more than 50 miles or more from home during this 4th of July holiday period.
