COEUR D’ALENE -- The City of Coeur d’Alene planned to lock up both of its city-run cemeteries to prevent vandalism after dark Wednesday.
Cemetery workers have locked the gates at Riverview Cemetery and Forest Cemetery at night time from October 30 through November 1 for the last three decades.
Cemetery Superintendent Nick Goodwin said locking down the cemeteries is an old tradition the City has held onto to avoid vandalism.
Despite the precautions, Goodwin said some people still break in. Workers have found Ouija boards and masks on statues in the past.
