Authorities originally said the dog was a pit bull. However, the owner’s family said the dog was actually a seven-year-old Siberian husky.   Later on in the evening, the owner said the dog was 20% pit bull.  Deputies said they believed it was a pit bull at the time they reported the deadly shooting.

The dog bit the deputy’s arm and leg according to authorities. Deputies reported that the injured deputy was taken to a hospital to receive stitches.

Authorities confirmed that the deputy was alone. He was at the home to drop off recovered property when the dog attacked according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.  The dog was shot three times according to law enforcement.

Brad Beck owns the property where the dog was shot. He said the dog belongs to his son. He claimed the dog was shot in the gut. Beck added that there were multiple signs on his property warning people about the dog.
