It has been a tough 24 hours for the people of Twisp, the people of Winthrop and also the firefighters working endlessly to save their homes.
From the back yard of her home, Deb Christopherson watches and waits, and worries.
"In an instant the wind shifs and it's like oh my gosh," she said.
Her neighbors work to clear vegetation from around their homes.
But Christopherson has her bags packed in case she has to move fast.
"All it has to do is come down here and hit this field and if it hits this field, I mean we probably have a minute to get out of here," she said.
Crews said Saturday afternoon they had successfully completed a fire line east of Hwy 20 between Winthrop and Twisp and it was holding.
