LEWISTON, Idaho -- Police were called to the scene of a suspicious device found in Lewiston just after midnight Wednesday.

Near Birch Ave. and 21st Street, officers said they found three chunks of concrete placed on top of a small cylindrical object wrapped in black electrical tape. Authorities then secured the surrounding area.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Department's Explosives Disposal Unit was called to the scene. The unit successfully diffused the device and it was processed as evidence, authorities said.
