SPOKANE, Wash. -- Plans to revitalize one of Spokane’s greatest treasures are almost complete.

The formal loan application is only weeks away from finalization for the Ridpath.

The 1980’s movie Vision Quest showed the Ridpath at its prime. Matthew Modine put the landmark in the national spotlight. Then, it turned into an eyesore.

Real Estate Developer Ron Wells is now planning to turn it all around. Wells showed KREM 2 the progress the apartments have made. There will be luxury living, shopping, a state of the art of the art fitness center and it still preserves history.

“The building is just built like a tank. I mean it was built in a manner far more expensive than anyone would build an apartment building today,” said Wells.

The demand for one of the 200 apartment units is almost met because of the affordable rates.

“This is metropolitan living. We’ll bring a vibrant new restaurant, a vibrant new bistro and coffee shop on the second floor,” said Wells.

Wells is hopeful that the new building will help make Downtown more vibrant.
