Are you oppose to the McDonalds being built?
SPOKANE, Wash. – State leaders have asked McDonald’s to stop construction and talk to leaders in the Logan Neighborhood about the design.
On Monday, KREM 2 told you about neighbors concerned about a new drive-thru only McDonald's opening in Spokane along Hamilton and Augusta. They said plans for the new restaurant do not meet their goals for how the Logan neighborhood should look.
Neighbors said the new McDonalds would set back plans to improve the neighborhood.
“As a local business owner, I care deeply about the community in which I do business. My team worked very closely with the City of Spokane Planning Department and Building Department since May 2013 to collaboratively develop the new McDonald’s site layout. I look forward to being a part of the Logan neighborhood community,” said McDonald’s owner, Mark Ray Sr.
Leaders of the Logan Neighborhood Organization said they want more buildings on the street to have plants and trees that create space between cars and people.
Officials at McDonalds told State Senator Andy Billig they would stop construction for a week and talk to neighbors. Company leaders also told Billig that they have no plans to change the design of the restaurant.
