ATHOL, Idaho -- The suspect who led authorities on a high-speed chase and manhunt in north Idaho made his first court appearance Friday.

Police said Dillen Endres refused to pull over and lead police on a chase. Officials said he also shot at a Sheriff’s deputy and a police officer. He then crashed into a shed near Athol and took off on foot. The manhunt went on for about eight hours until police found him.

On Friday, prosecutors said Endres was caught after he was seen trying to drive a different car away from the scene.  Police contacted the car’s owner nearby and found out it was stolen. Endres allegedly tried to avoid being arrested when he was approached again.

Prosecutors also said that Endres is unemployed and homeless.

His bail was set at $150,000. He faces several felonies including grand theft. The Kootenai County Sheriff said since he allegedly fired at a deputy and officer he could face attempted murder charges.

Endres has a criminal history including assault and reckless endangerment charges.
