KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Oregon initiated an Amber Alert for a missing 14-year-old Kennewick, Wash. girl who is believed to be in danger, and issued a new vehicle description Thursday evening.
Police are looking for Elizabeth Romero, who was last seen at 11:15 a.m. at 1800 W 7th Avenue in Kennewick on Wednesday as she left school for lunch and got into her boyfriend's late 2000s green Ford Escape.
Romero did not return to school and her mother later contacted authorities, police said. Her family believes she may be with her boyfriend Edwardo Flores Rosales, 19.
According to police, the girl's mother said she received a text message Thursday from a person claiming to be Rosales and using an unknown number. The message stated that the girl was headed to Mexico.
Kennewick police are investigating the incident as a kidnapping and on Thursday Oregon activated its Amber Alert system at Kennewick police request.
Elizabeth Romero is an Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. She is believed to be 5 ft and 3 in, weighing 130 lbs. She was last seen wearing a white top, dark pants, backpack and pink purse.
Edwardo Flores Rosales was described as an Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes. He is believed to be 5 ft and 9 in, weighing 225 lbs.
They may be traveling in the dark green Ford Escape. Police do not have a license plate description, but believe the vehicle is an early 2000s model.
