SPOKANE, Wash. – A 54-hour frenzy of entrepreneurship started Friday night in Spokane. It’s the fourth Startup Weekend Spokane.
125 aspiring entrepreneurs are pitching new business ideas to a team of prominent judges. Only one of them will earn the recognition of having the best start-up idea in the city.
Pete Taylor is pitching a new mobile app. He is not only returning for another year of competition, he is the first winner of Spokane Startup Weekend a few years ago.
His first business was so successful, he is back with another startup idea.
“It was so much fun just being here. It is so invaluable. You get mentored and coached by big business people from all over the world. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Taylor.
Organizers said their goal is to help people like Taylor get paired with the designers, business leaders and web coders to make a product.
This is the largest turnout of participants yet. On Friday night, the crowd voted on which ideas will move forward to compete for the rest of the weekend.
