SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- A hammer attack trial divided Spokane jurors.
A 48-year-old man was convicted of 1st Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Another suspect in the case was acquitted according to authorities.
Dean Anders beat a man with a hammer on March 7, 2013. He was recently convicted. John Hill, 55, was also arrested but was acquitted by the jury on all charges.
Police said on the morning of March 7, a victim called 911 near the area of Greenwood and Indian Canyon Dr. The victim was found in a sleeping bag with numerous fractures, lacerations and bruises.
Officials said the victim identified Anders and Hill as his attackers to investigators.
Anders has previously been convicted of child rape. He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 15.
