SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- The University High School’s girls soccer team had its first game since losing their teammate.
An emotional ceremony was held before the team played Mt. Spokane Friday evening. The entire team carried Mckenzie Mott’s number nine jersey onto the field and there was nine seconds of silence.
The game was moved from Mt. Spokane High School so the soccer team could attend the memorial for the other girl who was killed, Josie Freier. Mott and Freier died in a car crash Saturday night in Spokane Valley.
The stands were filled with people from the entire soccer community.
