SPOKANE, Wash. -- A pet parrot missing for five days was thought to have been found in North Spokane Saturday morning, only for the owner to be disappointed when she saw the bird.
Tamara Hahn, who lives in the Shadle area, had hoped it was “Sassy” someone spotted in a yard. Hahn had been taking care of the parrot after it was found.
"My brother said that's the bird that was on Krem 2, and I was like what!,” said Tamara Hahn.
Sassy belongs to Tammy Glanville, who has owned birds for eight years. She said she never had any trouble with them until Monday. Her granddaughter had Sassy in her hands when the parrot escaped.
“My granddaughter came out and my boyfriend was weed-whacking and she flew off,” said Glanville.
Hahn contacted Glanville Saturday to reunite the bird with its owner. When Glanville arrived, however, she said the bird was not Sassy. But Glanville said she would not give up.
"She's just a part of the family,” Glanville said about Sassy. “We've had her for a long time."
It was not known where the parrot that was found came from. Hahn said she would take care of the bird until someone claimed it.
