SPOKANE, Wash. -- Leaders at a local museum announced Friday they will be laying-off a couple of employees.
Managers at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC) said they plan to laying off two employees. Less than 30 people work at the museum.
MAC Executive Director Forrest Rodgers said it is due to their budget and state funding is not enough to run the museum.
“We’ve reduced our utilities significantly and made other efforts to reduce costs,” said Rodgers.
Rodgers said the layoffs are part of a new business plan to revamp the visitor experience. The museum will use those funds to go toward bringing in more people.
The MAC has struggled financially for years but if all goes as planned Rodgers hopes there will not be any more cuts.
The last time board member had to lay-off employees was in 2011.
