UPDATE: I-90 eastbound between Vantage and Kittitas is reopening at 2:30 on Friday.
VANTAGE, Wash. - Eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 near milepost 115 near Kittitas are closed until Friday after a 25-vehicle crash pileup and poor visibility due to the smoke from the wildfires.
The Washington state Patrol says more than 20 cars and semi-trucks crashed in the Interstate 90 pile up Thursday morning, leaving 11 people injured.
Trooper Darren Wright says the pile up happened just before 11 a.m. near Vantage. He says there are serious injuries among the 11 people hurt.
While crews clean up and troopers investigate, eastbound I-90 has been closed at mile post 116. Traffic is being detoured through the town of Kittitas to the Old Vantage Highway. WSDOT tweeted eastbound traffic will likely re-open sometime Thursday evening, but no time was released.
Westbound traffic was temporarily closed but has since re-opened.
Wright says it's not known yet how the pile up started. It involves 15 passenger cars and 6 semi-trucks.
