SPOKANE -- A move filming in Spokane wrapped up production Sunday.
Hundreds of locals will appear in “Different Drummers”, which started shooting last month.
The film is about two 10-year-olds who met at a north Spokane school, that’s why it was important to filmmakers to shoot the movie locally.
“We could have gone to a number of places, but it was important for us to do it here in Spokane because the story took place in Spokane up on the north side by Linwood Grade School in 1965. It’s a true story about best friends who met in the fourth grade. One’s a hyperactive little devil, and the other one is in the late stages of muscular dystrophy and he’s confined to a wheelchair,” said Lyle Hatcher co-writer and director.
Both lead actors are from the northwest, including newcomer Brayden Tucker who plays the lead.
The movie should be out on the big screen about this time next year.
