STEVENS COUNTY, Wash.— Two young teenagers were rushed to the hospital late Wednesday after a wreck in Stevens County.
It happened just before 7 p.m. on HWY 25, 13 miles south of Kettle Falls.
Authorities said the driver of a 2001 Ford Windstar was heading north on HWY 25 when they drifted off the road. The driver then overcorrected, struck a dirt embankment, and then rolled.
Authorities said the driver fled from the scene so it is unclear who was behind the wheel. However, two 14-year-old males at the scene were transported to area hospitals. One was taken to Mt. Carmel Hospital in Stevens County while the other was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. The extent of their injuries was not released.
Washington State Patrol troopers said drugs or alcohol did play a role in the crash. Troopers said charges are pending.
