WILBUR, Wash. -- A 13-year-old boy was seriously injured in a dirt bike wreck Sunday.
The Washington State Patrol says the boy was on a 1999 Honda dirt bike about one mile north of Wilbur. Troopers say he failed to stop at a stop sign on Highway 174 and hit a trailer being pulled by a Chevrolet pick-up.
The boy was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane by the MedStar helicopter.
Troopers say the boy was wearing a helmet, but that it was not USDOT compliant.
In Washington it is legal for a 13 year old to operate a dirt bike.
