SPOKANE – Summer gets a reputation for being care-free, but for many local families summer can be more stressful. Without school meals, parents have to budget more for food.

This Saturday, the “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive will help ensure those kids don’t go hungry without school meals. One non-profit that will benefit from the food drive is the Northeast Youth Center (NEYC) in Hillyard.

Second Harvest encourages you to donate nutritious non-perishable food like canned soups, fruits and vegetables as well as boxes of pasta and cereal.

Put it all in a sturdy bag, or the plastic blue bags provided by letter carriers this week, and leave it by your mailbox before 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
