Hunter flown out of Idaho wilderness after fall from horse

CHALLIS, Idaho -- A 72-year-old elk hunter who fell from a horse in a central Idaho wilderness area has been flown by helicopter to a medical facility in Boise for treatment.

The Custer County Sheriff's Office tells news sources that Dave Miller of Tehachapi, California, was flown from that area Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say Miller fell from a horse in the Jim McClure-Jerry Peak Wilderness Area.

Rain and fog initially prevented a Life Flight helicopter from locating Miller but a ground team found him Sunday afternoon and the helicopter then transported him out of the rugged area.

Authorities didn't release the extent of Miller's injuries.
