RATHDRUM, Idaho -- One person was killed in a semi vs. car collision on Highway 53 east of Rathdrum Wednesday night.
The collision happened just after 9:00 p.m.
Idaho State Police said the driver of a silver 2003 Infiniti 4D was traveling eastbound when the vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.
A white 2017 International Prostar semi with box trailer, driven by 55-year-old Greg J. Johnson, was westbound when the Infiniti collided with the semi head on.
A parked, unoccupied 2007 Volvo flatbed semi was struck as a result of the collision.
ISP said the Infiniti caught fire upon impact with the semi.
The unidentified driver of the Infiniti was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was transported to Kootenai health.
ISP said Johnson was wearing a seat belt, but could not confirm whether or not the victim was.
The roadway was blocked for four hours during the crash and will remain blocked until the vehicles are recovered.
Idaho State Police dispatch confirmed the highway reopened around 4:00 a.m.
