Swine flu vaccinations start at Idaho schools

Posted on October 22, 2009 at 8:50 AM

Students in the two largest school districts in the state will have the opportunity today to get the H1N1 vaccine.

The vaccines will start with elementary kids and work up to high school students.

The two school districts that will receive the vaccinations first are Boise and Meridian.

Central District Health Department personnel will be working with teams of school nurses to give students the vaccine.

The first shipment of the vaccine came in the form of nasal spray which CDHD says is a good match for children.

Strike teams and school nurses will travel from school-to-school giving the vaccine.

It's important to send your student to school with a consent form already filled out.

Because the CDHD will be busy at the schools, this week the immunizations clinic in Boise will be closed. They will reopen October 26.
