SPOKANE – Businesses are making sure Seattle’s “12th Man” feels right at home in Spokane this weekend. Many are bringing out the blue in hopes that the green will follow.
Super 1 Foods on Spokane’s South Hill made a special hand-stuffed sausage with Skittles in honor of Seattle Seahawks runningback Marshawn Lynch. The rainbow-colored Skittles are not visible, they are ground and incorporated into the sausage making up about seven percent of its ingredients.
Waddell’s Pub and Grill is bringing out its “12th Man Burger” and Hawks Wings on Super Bowl Sunday, both featuring a ground-up Skittles garnish. The burger also features ham, bacon, pepperjack cheese, tasty bits, onions and jalapenos. They serve it on a plate of green Pop Rocks, which they light on fire and serve.
Famous Ed’s Garlic Grill will roast a pig in the parking lot on Super Bowl Sunday. Their bar is mixing a special “Green and Blue bomber” beverage that comes out lime green with layer of blue on top.
“Retailers in Washington State, we’re all gonna experience the gains from this,” Famous Ed’s co-owner Mark Starr said. “It really does increase sales all across the board, just the momentum and excitement that we have right now.”
Famous Ed’s is also selling $10 raffle tickets for a chance to win an autographed Russell Wilson jersey. They plan to draw a winner at halftime and raise a goal of $515,000 for Spokane’s Shriners Hospital for Children.
