The new Washington state Health Benefit Exchange had a rough opening week. The Health Exchange website crashed on its first day Tuesday and customers complained of slow, sporadic connections in the days following.
The website had almost 200,000 page views on the first day but computer problems closed the site down for five hours. Officials with the organization said they underestimated how many people would call or log in.
To make the site faster and work on other improvements, the Health Benefit Exchange closed the website down for more maintenance Thursday night. The site was scheduled to be back online Friday morning.
Washington residents have until late December to sign up for health care that will begin on January 1, 2014.
