US President Barack Obama gives a statement about the Federal government's response to superstorm Sandy at the Red Cross in Washington on October 30, 2012. Damage from the mega-storm Sandy that blasted the US East Coast could hit $20 billion, disaster estimator Eqecat said, as economists put total losses to the economy at $30-50 billion. Meanwhile, Obama expressed sadness over deaths from Sandy and directed federal responders not to let up in their help to disaster areas after a top-level briefing.
