SPOKANE -- January is already a hard time for blood donations because of the weather and road conditions.  But add an early flu season to that and blood donations are even lower than usual.

Officials with the Inland Northwest Blood Center say donations are down 20-percent.  The center needs 200 donors a day in order to maintain a safe blood supply for the area.

The INBC is the only blood supplier to 30 hospitals and health centers in the region.  If you are health, they as that you come in and donate.  The center says it especially needs O-negative blood, the universal blood type.
