Eating insects--and even scorpions--is commonplace in many parts of the world and it is finding its way into American diets. Experts say it is a surprisingly healthy trend.

Insects are high in protein and low in fat and cholesterol. For example, a six ounce serving of crickets has 60% less saturated fat as the same amount of ground beef.

The United Nations held a global conference on the benefits of eating insects. They suggested it might even be a good solution to world hunger.
