BOISE -- The mystery bug that people have been complaining about has been identified as an Elm Seed Bug.

According to Pam Juker at the Idaho Department of Agriculture, this is the first time the bug has been found in the U.S.  It is commonly found in South Central Europe.

So, far Idaho is the only state to see the bug, specifically in Ada and Canyon counties.

The bug eats seeds in Elm Trees and is not harmful to people.

If you have seen the bug outside of Ada or Canyon County, the Department of Agriculture would like to you to call 332-8620 to report the pest.
