GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said they are not affiliated with Search and Rescue Charities, an organization soliciting funds through phone and direct mail.
GCSO said they have received a complaint about being uncertain who the organization benefits.
Grant County Sheriff’s Officials said this is the first time they have been made aware of the organizations requests.
According to the GCSO release, the group uses a Moses Lake post office box offering the impression that they are local.
Grant County Sheriff’s said Search and Rescue Charities is listed in Helena, Montana and is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau. GCSO has not verified the validity of the organization. Officials said the GCSO and its Search and Rescue team have no affiliation with Search and Rescue Charities and receive no benefit from their fundraising.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team members said they do not seek donations over the phone or through the mail.
